Sophie in Year 4 has enjoyed continued success with her tennis
Sophie’s Success
Whilst most of us were enjoying a break over the summer, Sophie was working hard on her tennis and enjoyed some notable successes:
- 9U Grade 2 Corby
- 7th
- On day one Sophie was up against a very strong player and was 2 sets down and at match point but she just kept on running and returning wearing her opponent down point by point to eventually win the match and go through to the 2nd group on day 2. She then went on to beat two further players she’d never beaten before to win the group which placed her 7th overall.
- 9U Grade 3 94th Woking Open
- 4th
- 9U Grade 2 Nottingham
- 27th
- This was the final round of the 9U National Tour, normally they run two competitions for each round and you can only enter 1 which means 64 places are available. For the final one there was only a single event with 32 places which made it a lot tougher.
- Sophie missed out on a place in the top 16 on day 1 by 2 points in the match tiebreak against the No 10 ranked player. Her determination was incredible two hours on court in 30+ degree heat trying to get through!
- 9U Grade 3 Sussex County Championships
- 1st without losing a single game in the entire competition, 7-2 7-1 in the final!
- 9U Grade 6 Storrington Championships
- 1st
- 10U Grade 6 Storrington Championships
- 2nd
- 10U Grade 3 Bromley
- 13th
- 10U Grade 3 West Worthing
- 4th
- 10U Grade 3 Tunbridge Wells
- 4th
- 10U Grade 3 Sussex County Championships
- 5th
- 10U Grade 3 Sussex Country Championships Doubles ( With Anna Tustin )
- 3rd
Sophie is now ranked 30th at 9U and 119th at 10U.
