At Dorset House, we aim to provide a magical prep school experience for our pupils in an environment where children are engaged, enthused and inspired. We are often described as a greenhouse not a hot house and we find that pupils grow in confidence in our high challenge/low threat atmosphere.
Our committed and talented staff foster close links between home and school and we know every child well, meaning that we are aware of any successes achieved or issues they are facing.
Our optional flexi and weekly boarding for our Prep children, promote independence.
Happy, confident – not arrogant young people, who can relate to and communicate with others – Dorset House children often win awards and scholarships to senior schools and regularly going on to hold positions of responsibility.

We have some very exciting news to share from Dorset House!
From January 2027, The Nursery School Company will become the new provider of our on-site Pre-School, marking an exciting new chapter for early years at DH.
The new provision will bring significant investment into the setting, including the refurbishment of the classroom and outdoor play areas, further enhancements to our Forest School environment, extended opening hours from 8am–6pm and an all-inclusive approach including meals, snacks, enrichment activities and Forest School experiences.
We can’t wait to begin this next chapter with @thenurseryschoolcompany , a family-run organisation whose approach to early years education fits so naturally with our own.
The team will be joining us at our ‘A Day in the Life of DH’ event on Saturday 26 September, so families will have the chance to meet them and find out more about what’s ahead.
There’s lots more to share over the coming months and we’re so excited to see The Nursery School Dorset House come to life!

A fabulous evening on Friday at our Headmistress’ Drinks to kick off the Autumn Term.
The rain may have moved us from the Walled Garden into our beautiful Tudor Barn but it certainly didn’t dampen the evening!
It was lovely to welcome our new families and staff, catch up with familiar faces and raise a glass to the year ahead, with Mrs Sutherland-Booth sharing a few words about the exciting year ahead at DH.
A huge thank you, as always, to our fantastic PA for catering and putting on such an absolutely delicious spread.
And there’s plenty to look forward to at DH this year, starting with some very exciting news we’ll be sharing on Monday…
