While the Year 2 and 3 children were stunning the audience in the amphitheatre yesterday evening, Years 4 - 6 were sweeping the board at Prebendal.
All our athletes performed brilliantly but most notable was Alice Crowley who won the U10 Hurdles, Charlie Manger won the U12 Hurdles, Sean Scrase and Ella Lawson won the U10 600m and Tom Saunders and Jenna Jackson both won the U12 800m. In the sprints, Ben Saunders and Phoebe Hughes won the U10 75m and Hugo Ormerod won the U12 100m. DH dominated the relays with wins in the Year 4 girls and boys 4x 100m and the year 6 boys also collected the gold medal. In the field events, Ben Saunders and Phoebe Hughes both won the U10 long jump and Benji Jackson won the U12 long jump. A great evening of athletics and a huge well done to everyone involved!
On Tuesday, 24th May Dorset House hosted an U9 track athletics meeting against Great Ballard, Lancing Prep and Pennthorpe School. On a sunny afternoon and a buzz of competitiveness in the air there was lots to smile about for the host school. In the Hurdles, Emma Marsh won the Girls ‘B’ race, Alice Crowley the Girls ‘A’ race and Jack Woodage also won the Boys ‘A’ race. In the 600m Ella Lawson ran away with the Girls title in a time of 2:09.5min and Sebastian Anscombe won the Boys ‘B’ race. In the 75m competition, Ben Saunders won the Boys ‘A’ race, Matilda Simpson the Girls ‘B’ race and Charlie Ashworth the Boys ‘B’ race. In the 200m, Felix Nield ran a magnificent race to win the Boys ‘A’ race. The highlight of the afternoon was the relays, Dorset House winning three of the four races; the Girls ‘B’, and Boys ‘A’ and ‘B’. The final scores of the day for the Girls were:- Dorest House 1st, Great Ballard 2nd, Pennthorpe 3rd and Lancing Prep 4th. In the Boys' competition, Dorset House came 1st, Pennthorpe 2nd, Lancing Prep 3rd and Great Ballard 4th. A very successful afternoon and excellent results all round. Year 4 visited the Mary Rose museum. They were able to handle artefacts, try on Tudor costumes and discover what life was like on board Henry VIII’s flagship. They used 16th century maps to plan defences for Portsmouth against the French and enjoyed learning how to load and fire one of the breech guns.read more
