Charity Day Fun

The whole school enjoyed competing in a heptathlon last Friday. The sun was shining for us and we all tried our best to raise money for Children On the Edge. One of the activities was to guide your blindfolded partner around an obstacle course. This was great fun!

Hurst Athletes

On Monday, 27th June DH took a team of U10 and U11 girls and boys to Hurst to compete in the Area Athletics Championships. There were 24 schools competing and the competition was tough! In the field events, Phoebe Hughes jumped brilliantly to take the silver in the U10 girls’ long jump and Ben Saunders came 3rd in the boys’ event. Ella Lawson performed exceptionally well in the high jump to finish 3rd clearing 1.08m. On the track, Sean Scrase came 6th in the U10 boys’ 600m and Ella Lawson 9th in the U10 girls’ 600m. Sebastian Darmon raced superbly in hot conditions to finish 6th in the U11 boys’ 1500m. Phoebe Hughes performed equally as well on the track to win her heat in the U10 girls’ 200m and went on to win the silver in the final in an impressive time of 34.87secs. David Morley also made the 200m final in the U11 boys’ event. Ben Saunders came 2nd in his heat of the U10 boys’ 75m, only to be extremely unlucky and not make the final! Matilda Simpson also made the final of the U10 75m and finished a fantastic 8th. The relays brought lots of excitement as both the U10 girls and boys made the finals. The girls finished an impressive 5th and the boys 7th. A brilliant day all round and lots of great performances; well done to all those who took part.

Electric Fireflies
